STRATHMORE, AB, WHEATLAND COUNTY, AB, CALGARY, AB – Eagle Lake Professional Landscape Supply announces its rebranding to Eagle Lake Turf Farm & Landscape Supply, effective immediately. This change unifies the company's two sister operations and clarifies its complete offering to landscape professionals and homeowners alike.
The new name reflects the company's core business: growing proven effective turf at their Strathmore farm just east of Eagle Lake while supplying comprehensive landscape materials throughout Alberta. Previously, customers often didn't realize the two entities were part of the same company.
"This rebranding clarifies our full range of services while honoring our roots in turf cultivation," says Eric Heuver, Owner. "We've always delivered proven effective products paired with exceptional service. Our name now better represents our complete offering."
More than six decades ago, Johans Heuver left post-WWII Holland for Canada and, alongside his brother Hennery, transformed an acidic, flood-prone property near Strathmore into Southern Alberta’s first open-air container plant nursery called Eagle Lake Nurseries so they could supply their own plants to their contracting company, Foothills Landscaping. This pioneering spirit fueled the growth of Eagle Lake Turf Farm & Landscape Supply, proving that proven effective, sustainable turf could be produced on a large scale in Alberta. Their legacy of innovation, service and community dedication continues to guide the businesses to this day.
In 1998, Johans’ son Eric Heuver purchased the sod division of the family business, bringing fresh ideas and a long-term vision for growth. His focus on sustainable practices—both economically and environmentally—set a new standard for the turf industry. As president of the Turf Growers Association (TGA) between 2001 – 2010, Eric fostered collaboration and innovation, being the first to develop a line of sod blends of pristine, high performing, water-efficient turf grasses for specialty projects.
“Our focus has always been on delivering the highest possible quality products paired with fanatical service,” says Eric Heuver. “We’ve never competed on price because we know our service and products are in a class of their own.”
